Entering the web is a live performance. Presented at Parallel Vienna in 2023. The piece focused on working with second-hand materials to build penetrable sculptures and costumes. From fabric, foam, rubber and plastic which are core elements of petrochemical origin deriving from the Polymer Industry.
To expose the chain of impact within these sectors. The performers incorporated - a set of gestures - associated with the mechanics of each industrial procedure. Creating a performative layout, which compressed images from multiple machines. Involved in the production of these selected materialities.
Tensegrity is the technique structuring all stage objects present in the work. As it balances elements appearing to be disconnected, into a steady form, through the use of tension points. The drawing comes from a schema of lines which is typical of spider webs.
And is influenced by studies of Biomimetics, which is a design method that emulates systems present in nature (fauna or flora) through the use of synthetic materials, to engineer objects and buildings.
